Vega Youth Programs has a terrific tool to help you in your teaching efforts. We’d
like to introduce you to Crime Scene Kids! Anatomy of a Death, an
empirical learning mystery. Crime Scene
Kids! Anatomy of a Death combines learning and fun in a convenient kit that includes all
materials* and instructions necessary to set up a simulated crime scene lab
at your location. Because it is from Vega Youth Programs you know you can
trust Crime Scene Kids! to teach effectively while actively engaging your
kids. |

They
think it's fun
Your students will become Crime Scene
Investigators for the day! They will immerse themselves in this role as they
work through each station in your “Crime Scene Lab”. They will examine
evidence, complete experiments, compare samples, and ultimately determine
what happened to the victim.
Through the 7 stations in your
Crime Scene Lab students will really experience learning.
They will “see” evidence, they will “hear” suspects, they will “touch” the
victim's belongings, they will “observe” chemical reactions, and much more.
Students will examine:
- Fingerprints
- Shoeprints
- Handwriting
- Medical Examiner & Coroner Reports
- Contents of the Crime Scene
- Interview summaries prepared by the
police
- Messages on the Victim's Answering
Machine
- Various chemicals and substances

You know it's learning
While the kids are having fun you will also
know they are learning. These kits are designed to keep kids in the 5th and
6th grade engaged in interesting activities and learning.
Crime Scene Kids! learning mysteries are designed to help participants:
- develop critical thinking skills
- improve decision making
- draw conclusions
- gather evidence
- apply scientific principles
The experiments within this program are not actual crime scene investigation
experiments; however, the scientific principles of carefully following
instructions, measuring substances, mixing ingredients, observing reactions,
and drawing conclusions are fundamentals within each of the experiments. All
materials are perfectly safe when used as directed.
