Fun
for them, flexible for you
Click here to see a sample mission and map.Colonial Spy! Mission
for Liberty has been
designed to be flexible and work with your specific needs as a teacher.
Students will complete thirteen different missions (one for each of the
original colonies). Each mission is historically based on a battle or time
period during the American Revolution.
In
Colonial Spy! Mission for Liberty, you can choose to do one
mission a day or several missions in one day. Students can all work on the
same mission, or students can work on different missions simultaneously. The
missions can be conducted before a lesson to improve enthusiasm for the
topic, or missions can be completed after a lesson to reinforce learning and
the sense of relevance for a topic. The missions are provided in
chronological order; but they are independent and may be completed in any
order that matches your curriculum or lesson plan.
Students will work with a partner to
complete each mission and the kit includes enough materials for up to 30
students. Each mission will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes for
students to complete. Basic
background historical information and instructions for each mission are given
to the teams.
Each mission includes a full color
map that the students must read and interpret. All of the missions
take place from 1768 through 1781, the conclusion of the American
Revolution. The teacher will also have a facilitator guide which will
include a detailed set of instructions for each mission.
